About the Hearts for Muscles

The course runs through Baker Park in downtown Naples, a green, open space along Goodlette-Frank Road. The route is flat and the surroundings are pleasant, with the park itself giving the morning a comfortable feel. The race is organized around a specific cause: raising funds and attention for a rare muscular disease affecting children.

After finishing, runners gather near the finish line under tents for an awards ceremony, a raffle, music, and food. The post-race area is set up right in the park, so there is no hunting around for where things are happening.

Common Questions About the Hearts for Muscles

Will I finish last at the Hearts for Muscles?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 34:13, and the last recorded finisher came in around 58:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hearts for Muscles a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (38 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hearts for Muscles?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:08 while the median finisher took 34:13. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
