The race starts at Chickahominy Riverfront Park and immediately crosses the Chickahominy River Bridge before heading out along the Capital Trail. The surface is well-maintained paved trail the whole way. Both distance options follow the same out-and-back route, so shorter and longer runners share the course. The turn-around point is out on the trail, then it is back over the bridge to the park.
