Gratitude

Richmond Hill, NY

Registration openAnnual since at least 2024

Entry is $35 now and rises to $40 after Nov 15, 2026, so registering before then saves $5.

About the Gratitude

The course runs through Forest Park on closed roads, so there is no traffic to contend with. The surroundings are wooded and the road through the park has a pleasant, sheltered feel. Costumes are encouraged, which gives the field a Thanksgiving-morning energy without taking itself too seriously.

Packet pickup and bib check-in happen on race morning near the start, so there is no separate trip the day before. Parking in the area is free. Post-race awards follow not long after the last runners finish, and there are treats and drinks at the start and finish area.

Common Questions About the Gratitude

Will I finish last at the Gratitude?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 30:11, and the last recorded finisher came in around 51:53, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Gratitude a good first 5K?

A field of 203 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Gratitude?

The 5K winner ran 17:59 while the median finisher took 30:11. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
