About the FROZEN BUNS RUN 2027 13TH ANNUAL

This is a New Year's Day run hosted by the Western Arkansas Runners club, a tradition that started after a brutal winter wiped out a season of races and a group of local runners decided to go out anyway. The course is a road run through Fort Smith, and the focus is firmly on showing up on the first day of the year rather than racing hard.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the Western Arkansas Runners building on Taylor Avenue, with race-morning pickup available as well. After the run, there is hot chocolate, several kinds of chili, and other food waiting. Runners are encouraged to bring something to drink and share, and a fire pit gets going if the weather calls for it.
