About the Fort Smith Marathon, Half Marathon, 5 Leg Marathon Relay, & 2 Leg Half Marathon Relay

The course starts and finishes at a riverfront pavilion and covers historic downtown streets, quiet neighborhoods, and paved trails along the way. The terrain rolls throughout, with a few genuine climbs and descents that make this one to prepare for rather than assume is easy. The half marathon follows the full course early on, then branches off and rejoins it for the return leg.

Common Questions About the Fort Smith Marathon, Half Marathon, 5 Leg Marathon Relay, & 2 Leg Half Marathon Relay

Will I finish last at the Fort Smith Marathon, Half Marathon, 5 Leg Marathon Relay, & 2 Leg Half Marathon Relay?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:25:15, and the last recorded finisher came in around 4:06:16, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Fort Smith Marathon, Half Marathon, 5 Leg Marathon Relay, & 2 Leg Half Marathon Relay a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 200 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Fort Smith Marathon, Half Marathon, 5 Leg Marathon Relay, & 2 Leg Half Marathon Relay?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:15:56 while the median finisher took 2:25:15. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
