The course runs along Camellia Boulevard in Lafayette, a road route that keeps things straightforward and readable for all paces. The race benefits Maddie's Footprints Acadiana, which supports families who have lost a child, and that purpose is felt throughout the morning. A remembrance celebration takes place after the race, and many participants stay for it.

Packet pickup the evening before at City Club at River Ranch is strongly encouraged over race-morning pickup, which can mean a wait. After the race, the Town Square area fills out with music, food, and activities for kids, so there is reason to linger past the finish.
