Fools Day 5K

Fort Pierce, FL

Registration openAnnual since at least 2024

About the Fools Day 5K

The Fools Day 5K runs through Fort Pierce as a fundraiser for a local nonprofit focused on poverty relief, and the race leans into its playful theme with novelty glasses handed out at registration. The course has a lighthearted character to it, and the age group awards go deep, so runners who place in their bracket actually have a real shot at hardware.

Packet pickup and onsite registration open early on race morning before the start, and an awards ceremony follows not long after the last finishers come through. The post-race gathering has a purpose behind it, and that tends to give the crowd a slightly different feel than a typical weekend 5K.

Common Questions About the Fools Day 5K

Will I finish last at the Fools Day 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 40:30, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:22:59, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Fools Day 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (167 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Fools Day 5K?

The 5K winner ran 20:58 while the median finisher took 40:30. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
