About the First Solar HEROES 5k
The course runs through the grounds of the US Space & Rocket Center, passing by the Pathfinder Shuttle and the Saturn V Rocket. It is a certified road course, paved and measured, with those landmarks giving it a setting you would not find at most local races. Both a standard run and a weighted ruck option are offered, so the field includes runners and ruckers moving at different speeds.
Parking is in the lot beside the Davidson Center for Space Exploration, which puts you close to the start. Proceeds go to Still Serving Veterans, a local nonprofit that supports the military community, so the race has a clear reason behind it beyond the run itself.
