About the 15th Annual FGCU XC Gobbler 5K Event

The course makes a single loop around the campus, so you get a sense of the grounds from start to finish. The route stays on the flatter side, and the shorter distance and kids' event run near the arena, keeping everything close together on race morning.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a running store in a nearby mall, with race-morning pickup available in front of the arena. Parking is in the overflow lot just off campus. Age group awards are handed out in front of the arena after the race wraps up.

Common Questions About the 15th Annual FGCU XC Gobbler 5K Event

Will I finish last at the 15th Annual FGCU XC Gobbler 5K Event?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 32:05, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:04, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 15th Annual FGCU XC Gobbler 5K Event a good first 5K?

A field of 450 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 15th Annual FGCU XC Gobbler 5K Event?

The 5K winner ran 15:44 while the median finisher took 32:05. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
