About the #FeedTheKids 3K

The course runs on paved paths through Wellington Park in south Lexington, which keeps things smooth underfoot. It is a short route, so even runners who do not train much can see the finish line coming. The race benefits a fund that works to clear student lunch debt for local public school kids, which gives the morning a clear sense of purpose.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store, with a race-morning option at the park pavilion as a backup. After the race, the celebration moves to Mirror Twin Brewing, where runners who bring their bib can get a beer, and brunch from a pizza food truck is available for purchase.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the #FeedTheKids 3K

Will I finish last at the #FeedTheKids 3K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1.86 Miles field finished slower than 30:03, and the last recorded finisher came in around 41:34, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the #FeedTheKids 3K a good first 1.86 Miles?

A field of 254 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1.86 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the #FeedTheKids 3K?

The 1.86 Miles winner ran 11:38 while the median finisher took 30:03. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
