About the Father Judge High School CRUSADER CLASSIC 5K

The course runs through Pennypack Park, following the creek before finishing with a lap around the high school track. The park stretch keeps things shaded and natural, and the track finish gives it a distinct close that most road races skip. The whole thing benefits a scholarship fund honoring a Philadelphia firefighter who died in the line of duty.

Parking is behind the school, which also puts you right at the track finish and the start area near the park's band shell. Packet pickup is available before the race, with race-morning registration on site as well.

Common Questions About the Father Judge High School CRUSADER CLASSIC 5K

Will I finish last at the Father Judge High School CRUSADER CLASSIC 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.11 Miles field finished slower than 29:40, and the last recorded finisher came in around 54:16, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Father Judge High School CRUSADER CLASSIC 5K a good first 3.11 Miles?

It is a small race (122 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.11 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Father Judge High School CRUSADER CLASSIC 5K?

The 3.11 Miles winner ran 19:41 while the median finisher took 29:40. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Where can I train for the Father Judge High School CRUSADER CLASSIC 5K?

Join a local run club. Fairmount Running Club, Philadelphia Runner Track Club, Wissahickon Wanderers and others in Philadelphia welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
