About the Face to Face Turkey Trot

The race runs on Forbidden Drive, a gravel carriage path where the canopy closes in and the trail follows a creek through a gorge. It benefits Face to Face, a Germantown nonprofit that provides meals, medical care, and social services to people in the neighborhood. Distance options cover serious runners and a shorter fun run, and age group awards are part of the mix.

Packet pickup happens at the Face to Face office and at Chestnut Hill College in the days before the race, with same-day pickup available race morning at the college. Free parking is at Chestnut Hill College, with overflow further down Germantown Avenue. Either way, budget a real walk to reach the start on Forbidden Drive. Refreshments and music are at the finish.

Common Questions About the Face to Face Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Face to Face Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5 Miles field finished slower than 48:38, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:32:13, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Face to Face Turkey Trot a good first 5 Miles?

With 1,213 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Face to Face Turkey Trot?

The 5 Miles winner ran 26:08 while the median finisher took 48:38. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Where can I train for the Face to Face Turkey Trot?

Join a local run club. Fairmount Running Club, Philadelphia Runner Track Club, Wissahickon Wanderers and others in Philadelphia welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
