About the Everyone Runs Veterans Day Catalina St. Park 10.6 & 5.3 Mile Trail Races + 5k Road Run

The trail races run through Catalina State Park on paths that the organizer describes as easy, surrounded by desert landscape. The road option stays inside the park too, on roads closed to traffic. All distances start and finish at the park trailhead, so there is no shuttling or separate staging.

Parking inside the park is tight, and carpooling is strongly encouraged. Some runners end up parking along the incoming shoulder and walking in. A parking pass must be picked up ahead of time at a Fleet Feet location. There is a homemade Mexican breakfast and coffee at the finish, along with fruit and nuts.

Common Questions About the Everyone Runs Veterans Day Catalina St. Park 10.6 & 5.3 Mile Trail Races + 5k Road Run

Will I finish last at the Everyone Runs Veterans Day Catalina St. Park 10.6 & 5.3 Mile Trail Races + 5k Road Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5.3 Miles field finished slower than 1:04:42, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:50:46, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Everyone Runs Veterans Day Catalina St. Park 10.6 & 5.3 Mile Trail Races + 5k Road Run a good first 5.3 Miles?

It is a small race (143 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5.3 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Everyone Runs Veterans Day Catalina St. Park 10.6 & 5.3 Mile Trail Races + 5k Road Run?

The 5.3 Miles winner ran 33:34 while the median finisher took 1:04:42. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
