About the Ellington 4-Mile Run & Walk
The course winds through downtown Asheville past a series of Art Deco buildings designed by the same architect, including City Hall, a historic high school, a church, and a cafeteria building. Each one is a landmark in its own right, and stringing them together on foot gives you a different sense of the city than most runs do.
The race starts and finishes in the parking lot of First Baptist Church, which was the architect's first commission in the city and anchors the whole route. Packet pickup and post-race gathering happen in that same spot, so there is no need to move your car between arrival and finish.
