About the Electric City Gobbler Thanksgiving Day Tradition

The course runs on city streets around Anderson Mall, certified and described as fast. It is a Thanksgiving morning race, so the crowd tends to show up in costumes, and strollers are part of the scene. Proceeds support a local program that helps kids stay active, which gives the morning a clear sense of purpose beyond the run itself.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon and evening before the race at the mall. On race morning, the start is right at the mall's main entrance, and there is water at the finish line.

Common Questions About the Electric City Gobbler Thanksgiving Day Tradition

Will I finish last at the Electric City Gobbler Thanksgiving Day Tradition?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 32:10, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:26:27, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Electric City Gobbler Thanksgiving Day Tradition a good first 5K?

With 981 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Electric City Gobbler Thanksgiving Day Tradition?

The 5K winner ran 15:49 while the median finisher took 32:10. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
