About the El Paso ISD Education Foundation 5K

The race starts and finishes at a high school campus on Edgemere Boulevard, which gives the morning a school-grounds feel rather than a downtown one. The course runs through flat El Paso terrain, and the event draws enough team participation that there is a separate award for the largest team showing up together.

Packet pickup the evening before is at a local pizza spot at the corner of Airway and Montana, which makes for an easy stop on the way home from work. Race-morning pickup opens at the start line well before the gun, so late arrivals have a window too.

Common Questions About the El Paso ISD Education Foundation 5K

Will I finish last at the El Paso ISD Education Foundation 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 30:57, and the last recorded finisher came in around 48:04, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the El Paso ISD Education Foundation 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (105 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the El Paso ISD Education Foundation 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:08 while the median finisher took 30:57. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
