The course runs on the actual runway at Anderson Regional Airport, which makes it unlike almost any road race you have done before. The surface is smooth and open, with no turns to speak of and nothing overhead but sky. It is genuinely flat, the kind of flat that comes from pavement built for aircraft, and the wide-open airport grounds give the whole thing an unusual, almost surreal feeling.
