The course runs on the Monarch High School campus, looping through a mix of grass, packed dirt, and concrete sidewalk. Grass makes up most of the surface underfoot, so it runs softer than a typical road race. Farmland borders the course on a couple of sides, and the Flatirons sit on the horizon the whole way around. There are cows in the adjacent fields.
