About the Cotton Row Run

The longest distance here delivers a real workout. It winds through historic downtown Huntsville neighborhoods, including Blossomwood and the Twickenham and Old Town districts, before hitting a genuine climb on Mountainwood hill. The shorter distance stays closer to downtown with moderate hills, and the mile is a flat sprint. All courses are USATF-certified.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before the race at a car dealership on University Drive. Race-morning pickup is available at Big Springs Park, where all the races start, though the organizers strongly prefer you pick up the day before.

Common Questions About the Cotton Row Run

Will I finish last at the Cotton Row Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 1:01:38, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:12:35, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Cotton Row Run a good first 10K?

With 1,753 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Cotton Row Run?

The 10K winner ran 29:18 while the median finisher took 1:01:38. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
