About the Corolla Thanksgiving Day Wild Turkey 5k/1 Mile 2026
The race is held on Thanksgiving morning at the Whalehead Club, a historic estate on the northern coast. The course is flat along that stretch of shoreline, with a water stop at the halfway point. A bicycle leads the field out, and course marshals and turn arrows keep everyone on track. Walkers, strollers, and wheelchair participants are all welcome.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a gym in Kitty Hawk, with race-morning check-in available in front of the Whalehead Club before the start. After the race, there is a light breakfast and snacks on site. The event also collects canned goods for a local food bank, so bringing a non-perishable item fits the spirit of the morning.
