About the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5k Road Race

The course starts in downtown Shelton, crosses into Derby, and loops back. You get two historic downtown areas in one route, which gives the run some character beyond just pavement and turns. It is a Thanksgiving morning race, so the field tends to be people who want to move a little before the table fills up.

Refreshments are available before the race and again when you finish, which makes the start area feel more like a gathering than a gun-and-go.

Common Questions About the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5k Road Race

Will I finish last at the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5k Road Race?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 32:36, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:12:58, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5k Road Race a good first 3.1 Miles?

With 905 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5k Road Race?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:45 while the median finisher took 32:36. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
