About the Color Me Mutt 5K & 1 Mile Color Walk/Run

The course runs through NASCAR SpeedPark and puts you through color stations where volunteers throw powdered dye on you as you pass. The powder is cornstarch-based and non-toxic, and throwers aim low so the color lands on your clothes rather than your face. Dogs are welcome but the color throwers leave them alone unless you ask otherwise. You can wave off color at any station if you prefer.

Packet pickup happens at the SpeedPark venue on the two evenings before the race, with race-morning pickup available for those who cannot make it early. After the run, there is a pet parade and costume contest open to anyone, whether or not they ran. The 5K is officially timed, with age-group awards for both men and women.
