The course runs through Edgewater Park, right along the Lake Erie shoreline on Cleveland's west side. The terrain is mostly paved park paths, with open waterfront scenery that makes a cold morning easier to deal with. The race benefits a local veterans' support organization, so the crowd at the finish tends to reflect that purpose.
