About the Christmas in Lafreniere Park Run/Walk
The course winds through Lafreniere Park while the park is fully lit up for its Christmas lights display. LED figures, lighted holiday characters, and a large sea serpent in the lagoon line the route. The mood is more evening stroll than race, and the surroundings do most of the work. Gumbo, hot chocolate, and beer are at the finish.
Packet pickup runs at a couple of spots in the days before the race, including a local restaurant on Veterans Boulevard and the park's own foundation center. Race-day pickup opens in the afternoon near the Al Copeland Concert Stage inside the park. Gates lock before the start, so arriving early matters.
