About the 11th Annual Chimpathon - Run/Walk 5K & 10K
The course loops the perimeter of a large chimpanzee sanctuary, and that is what makes it unlike any road race you have done before. The route is flat and paved, but the view is island habitats where chimp families are out foraging and playing as you pass. The sanctuary is otherwise closed to the public, so race day is a rare chance to move through the whole property.
Parking is managed by volunteers on site, and the sanctuary has a single entrance, so plan to arrive with extra time to park and walk to the start. Vehicles cannot enter once the race is underway. Packet pickup is available at a couple of off-site locations in the days before the race, with a short window for pickup on race morning as well.
