It is USATF certified, chip timed, and open to dogs and strollers, so the start area draws a mixed crowd. A DJ runs the finish line festival, and the tagline tells you what to expect afterward: churros.
The start is on Ocean Boulevard, right along the beach path, so arriving early gives you time to settle in before things get going.
