About the Chase Race and Paws

Both courses run out and back from Simon Park in downtown Conway, starting and finishing on Front Street. The shorter course is open to dogs on leash, and a pet costume contest runs alongside it. The longer course is USATF certified with chip timing and serves as a Grand Prix Championship race, so expect a competitive front pack alongside a full range of paces.

Packet pickup is available the evening before at Compass Academy on Tilk Road, or on race morning at the start area in Simon Park. Parking is a short walk away in nearby lots. Refreshments are out after the finish for runners and their families, and local animal rescue organizations set up near the start with pets available for adoption.

Common Questions About the Chase Race and Paws

Will I finish last at the Chase Race and Paws?

Almost certainly not. Half the 2 Miles field finished slower than 19:51, and the last recorded finisher came in around 39:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Chase Race and Paws a good first 2 Miles?

A field of 286 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 2 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Chase Race and Paws?

The 2 Miles winner ran 9:42 while the median finisher took 19:51. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
