About the Charlottesville Track Club 2027 New Year's Day 5K

The course runs through Free Union on roads that stay mostly flat, which makes it a reasonable way to start a new year on foot. No dogs are allowed on the course, and strollers are welcome as long as they line up at the back. The race goes on in rain; only snow or ice would call it off.

Packet pickup happens race morning at the Free Union venue, wrapping up before the start. There is water at the finish, and a coffee truck on site for custom drinks. Drip coffee and cocoa are also out at no charge, which is a welcome detail on a cold winter morning.
