About the Calaverita Run 5K & Family Walk
The Calaverita Run is built around Día de los Muertos, and the course reflects that. Altars line the route, and live music carries through the evening air. Runners can attach a photo of someone they've lost to their bib, then place it on a community altar at the end. The surroundings are decorated, not neutral, and the crowd dresses for it.
After finishing, people tend to stay. Local vendors and community art fill the post-race area, and the altar where bib photos are placed becomes a gathering point. The evening runs late enough that the decorations and atmosphere carry well past the finish.
