About the Cajun Country Run (1/2 Marathon, 10k, 5k & Fun Run)

The race runs through Acadiana Park, and one of the things that sets it apart is the choice between road and trail. Road runners get a single loop on certified pavement; trail runners head into cross country and single-track sections, with some technical ground along the Vermilion River. Top finishers take home handmade alligator head trophies, which tells you something about the spirit of the event.

The park itself is the draw. TRAIL, the local conservation group the race supports, has put significant work into the land here, and you feel that on the trail courses especially. Parking and course details for each distance are on the race's own site, worth a look before you show up.

Common Questions About the Cajun Country Run (1/2 Marathon, 10k, 5k & Fun Run)

Will I finish last at the Cajun Country Run (1/2 Marathon, 10k, 5k & Fun Run)?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:07:06, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:26:04, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Cajun Country Run (1/2 Marathon, 10k, 5k & Fun Run) a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (142 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Cajun Country Run (1/2 Marathon, 10k, 5k & Fun Run)?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:16:48 while the median finisher took 2:07:06. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
