About the Brooklyn Queens Brewery Express 10k

The course runs through several Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods on open streets, so you share the road with traffic and need to stay alert. It finishes at a brewery, and there is pizza when you get there. The route draws on a longer half marathon that has been running this same corridor for years, so the neighborhoods along the way are well worn and familiar to the organizers.

Bib pickup opens at the start location in the afternoon before the gun goes off later that evening. The finish at the brewery is where the post-race gathering happens, so there is no rush to leave.

Common Questions About the Brooklyn Queens Brewery Express 10k

Will I finish last at the Brooklyn Queens Brewery Express 10k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 57:22, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:09:13, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Brooklyn Queens Brewery Express 10k a good first 10K?

It is a small race (51 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Brooklyn Queens Brewery Express 10k?

The 10K winner ran 40:58 while the median finisher took 57:22. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.

Where can I train for the Brooklyn Queens Brewery Express 10k?

Join a local run club. BK Run Project, Black Men Run, Black Roses NYC and others in Brooklyn welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
