About the Bolingbrook Howl-O-Ween 5K
This is a Halloween-themed race that welcomes dogs on leash alongside their owners. Costumes are encouraged but not required, and neither is bringing a dog. Age group awards go to the top finishers across a full spread of categories, so there is real competition built into the morning alongside everyone running in ears and capes. The course is a standard road distance, nothing technical underfoot.
The race benefits rescue animals, which is the thread running through the whole event. Post-race, there are awards for the top male and female finishers overall. If you do bring a dog, the organizers ask that leashes stay short and that you clean up after your animal.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Bolingbrook Howl-O-Ween 5K has been held every year since at least 2023. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
