About the Blessings in a Bookbag Presents 15th Annual MLK 5k/10k

This race runs on MLK Day and raises money for a local child hunger nonprofit. The course offers a shorter and a longer distance option, both starting from a running store in a shopping center on the south side of Savannah. Dogs are welcome on the course, which gives the morning a neighborhood-outing feel.

Packet pickup runs the two days before the race at the same running store where the start line is, so you can sort your bib and be done with it before race morning. Last-minute registration is also available on race day before the start.

Will I finish last at the Blessings in a Bookbag Presents 15th Annual MLK 5k/10k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:33, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:02:01, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Blessings in a Bookbag Presents 15th Annual MLK 5k/10k a good first 5K?

How competitive is the Blessings in a Bookbag Presents 15th Annual MLK 5k/10k?

The 5K winner ran 22:02 while the median finisher took 38:33. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
