About the BIRR Monster Mash Mile Fun Run
The race takes place at Wailoa State Park in downtown Hilo, a flat, open setting that suits the Halloween costume parade feel of the morning. Costumes are part of the point here, with awards going to the fastest runners and to the best-dressed, so the crowd showing up tends to look more like a neighborhood block party than a standard road race.
Water and snacks are out after the race. The event is co-organized with Hilo Run Club, and the entry fee is waived for members and for younger kids.
