About the BIRR Hilo Bay 5k and 10k
The course starts and finishes at Reeds Bay on Banyan Drive, running out and back along what is one of the more scenic stretches of Hilo's waterfront. The terrain is flat, and the out-and-back shape means you see the same surroundings twice, which works in your favor when those surroundings are the bay.
Packet pickup the evening before is at Lili'uokalani Park near Coconut Island, which is worth knowing because the park itself is a short walk from the water and easy to find. Race-morning pickup is also available if you cannot make the evening window. Aid stations and snacks are out on the course.
