About the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff Dave McKay Memorial Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk
The course starts at Thorpe Park and hits a steep climb right away, hauling up an urban trail onto Observatory Mesa. Once you're up, the rest follows dirt roads with open views of the San Francisco Peaks. The altitude is real from the start, and runners coming from lower elevations will feel it on that early ascent. The half and the 5K both run on the mesa.
Packet pickup happens at a local running store earlier in the week, then moves to Fratelli Pizza the evening before the race, where a free pasta dinner is part of the deal for all participants. Race-morning pickup opens early for those who need it. The race starts from Thorpe Park.
