About the Flagstaff Marathon
The courses run through ponderosa pine and aspen forest on single and double track trail inside the Coconino National Forest, starting from the Arizona Nordic Village. The altitude here is real, and runners who come from lower elevations tend to feel it. The marathon route covers the same ground as the half, run as a couple of loops, so you pass familiar terrain before you are done.
