About the Beyond The Grave 5K
The course winds through a historic cemetery after dark, which shapes everything about this race. Runners carry headband flashlights along the shadowy paths, and costumes are part of the scene rather than a novelty. A shorter loop and a longer double loop are both on offer, neither chip-timed, so the evening leans more toward atmosphere than the clock.
Packet pickup runs for several days before the race at a local running store, with race-day pickup opening at the start site as the sun goes down. The start and finish are in the parking lot of Ladybird Academy of Lake Mary, and a costume contest runs in the hour before the gun.
