About the Becker Strong 3rd Annual Memorial 5k
The race is held at Brian Piccolo Park and honors a longtime elementary school principal who was also a devoted runner. It raises funds for sarcoma cancer research, and the connection between the course and the cause gives the morning a specific weight. The route is a road and path setting typical of a large public park.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local cycling shop, with race-morning pickup available at the park as a backup. Parking at the park carries a small fee per vehicle, so bringing cash helps. Age group awards go out for the main distance, with overall prizes for the top male and female finishers.
