About the Baby Steps 5k Run/Walk Kalamazoo
This race honors pregnancy and infant loss awareness, organized by a perinatal bereavement support group. Runners follow a longer course with a couple of loops; walkers take a shorter single-loop path. The morning ends with a Ceremony of Remembrance, which shapes the tone of the whole event. It draws people grieving alongside people supporting them.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local coffee shop, with bib pickup also available on race morning. Post-race, there are snacks and water at the finish. The Ceremony of Remembrance follows shortly after runners and walkers come in.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Baby Steps 5k Run/Walk Kalamazoo has been held every year since at least 2023. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
