About the Avalon Benefit 50 Mile/50K Run
The course runs out and back across Catalina Island on scenic fire roads through the island's interior, which is otherwise closed to the public. The terrain rolls through open landscape with Pacific Ocean views on both sides, and bison sightings along the way are genuinely common. Both distances share the same trails, starting and finishing right in the middle of Avalon near the Wrigley Stage.
Packet pickup and a course talk happen the evening before at the Metropole Hotel conference room, just off Crescent Street behind the shopping center. Someone else can collect your bib if needed, but they must bring a copy of your photo ID and a signed waiver, so plan ahead if your ferry schedule is tight.
