About the Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot
The course runs through downtown San Jose's streets and neighborhoods, passing local businesses along the way. It is flat throughout, so there is no real climbing to worry about. The race draws a big Thanksgiving morning crowd, and proceeds go to local nonprofits focused on food, housing, and healthcare. A costume contest runs at the start line before the race gets going.
Packet pickup happens in the days before Thanksgiving at Sports Basement locations in San Jose and Sunnyvale, with a discount on purchases when you come in. On race day, bib pickup opens early in the festival area, and registration stays open online until shortly before the start. After the race, there is an awards ceremony on the festival stage, and a kids' fun zone opens nearby.
