About the Annual Hangover Classic 5 Miler

The course runs through Colt State Park and along Poppasquash Road, a stretch that stays scenic even in winter. Part of the route follows an untreated bike path, so ice and uneven footing are real possibilities depending on weather. Yaktrax or careful footing are worth thinking about. The race carries a genuine old-school road race character, trophies and all.

Bib pickup is race morning at the VFW Hall on Hope St in Bristol. The start is near the bike path intersection on Poppasquash. Parking is available at Guiteras School, along Washington St, and in downtown Bristol. Afterward, the post-race party moves to a bar in Warren, where a pint voucher is printed right on the bib.

Common Questions About the Annual Hangover Classic 5 Miler

Will I finish last at the Annual Hangover Classic 5 Miler?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5 Miles field finished slower than 49:04, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:27:19, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Annual Hangover Classic 5 Miler a good first 5 Miles?

A field of 336 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Annual Hangover Classic 5 Miler?

The 5 Miles winner ran 28:25 while the median finisher took 49:04. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
