The course runs along Siesta Key Beach, so you are on road near the water the whole way. It is a flat route with open sky and beach surroundings, and the ocean is close enough that you feel it even if you are not running in the sand. The crowd tends to include families connected to the school programs the race supports.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store, with a second option the morning before race day at another store location nearby. At the start, there is Starbucks coffee, a color guard, and a national anthem. After finishing, door prizes are drawn and age-group awards go several places deep.
