About the McIntosh Turkey Trot

The course runs through the wooded grounds around a middle school, so the footing is trail rather than pavement and there is real shade. After the race, a Fall Festival is set up nearby with a DJ, raffle prizes, and age group awards announced and posted at the festival grounds.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at Fleet Feet on South Osprey Avenue. Students can also collect theirs at school before race day. Parking is in the lot near the newly built barn on the school property, and race-morning pickup is available before the start.

Common Questions About the McIntosh Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the McIntosh Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1 Miles field finished slower than 11:01, and the last recorded finisher came in around 21:44, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the McIntosh Turkey Trot a good first 1 Miles?

It is a small race (64 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the McIntosh Turkey Trot?

The 1 Miles winner ran 6:33 while the median finisher took 11:01. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
