About the Anchorage Turkey Trot
The Anchorage Turkey Trot runs on Thanksgiving morning, so the crowd skews festive. Costumes are encouraged, and there are prizes for the best-dressed individual and best-dressed family, which gives the start line a different look than a typical fall race. Awards go to top finishers across a full spread of age divisions, from young kids through older runners.
Music plays throughout, and the format draws both people chasing a personal best and others just moving before the holiday meal. The Thanksgiving morning air in Louisville can be brisk, which is worth keeping in mind when you decide what to wear under the costume.
