About the Alameda July 4th Parade R.A.C.E.

The course runs point-to-point through Alameda on completely closed roads, moving from the Park Street Business District to the Webster Street Farmers Market area. Streets are lined with spectators warming up for the parade that follows, so the atmosphere builds as you run. The terrain is flat the whole way, through a mix of business and residential blocks.

Packet pickup runs at a clothing boutique on Park Street in the days before the race, with race-morning pickup available at a nearby restaurant at the corner of Santa Clara. The finish area has a local brewery's beer garden and an expo focused on health businesses. Free shuttles run from the finish back to the start for a good stretch after the race ends.

Common Questions About the Alameda July 4th Parade R.A.C.E.

Will I finish last at the Alameda July 4th Parade R.A.C.E.?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 32:58, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:44:06, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Alameda July 4th Parade R.A.C.E. a good first 3.1 Miles?

With 1,674 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Alameda July 4th Parade R.A.C.E.?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:28 while the median finisher took 32:58. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
