The course starts and finishes on the St. Albert's campus, and the costume element is part of the deal: Viking gear is encouraged, so expect horned helmets and capes at the start line alongside the usual race-day crowd.
Food and drinks are set up after the race on campus, which gives the morning a gathering feel. There is no rush to leave once you cross the finish.
