About the 5K RUN FOR THE DONUT

The course runs out and back through Bent Tree Woodlands II, a wooded residential neighborhood, with a loop worked into the route. The trees give it some shade, and the terrain is smooth the whole way. Costumes are encouraged, and plenty of people show up in them. There is a water stop about halfway out.

Bib pickup runs the evening before at New Balance of Sarasota on Stickney Point Road, near the Siesta Key bridge. Race-morning pickup is available at the school entrance for a window before the start. Parking and indoor restrooms are across the street at Sarasota Baptist Church. After the race, coffee, donuts, and other breakfast snacks are set out near the finish.

Common Questions About the 5K RUN FOR THE DONUT

Will I finish last at the 5K RUN FOR THE DONUT?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:38, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:01:11, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 5K RUN FOR THE DONUT a good first 5K?

A field of 297 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 5K RUN FOR THE DONUT?

The 5K winner ran 16:40 while the median finisher took 33:38. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
