About the 10k at 10,000 Feet

The course starts high on Rabbit Ears Pass, already above the treeline before you take a step. It climbs on unpaved roads and two-track before dropping onto single-track through open terrain. The descent is long and the footing changes along the way, so trail shoes with solid grip are worth thinking about. Elevation change is significant in both directions.

There is one aid station partway through, but the organizers are direct about it: bring your own water. The race is remote enough that self-sufficiency matters. Plan accordingly before you leave your car.
